Hello Dr. Lalita

I asked myself: Did I just spent two hundred bucks on dental?

Yes I did – without regret. Even though that’s the most I’ve spent on anything for the past 10 months. Usually, I’d freak out looking at a price tag like that but I guess I’ve proven to myself that my oral health concerns me more. Well Fenson, get ready to starve this month.

One of my first molars (that’s back teeth to you) broke half this morning. Damn those delicious éclairs! Went to my university’s policlinic (the first time in two years) to meet the dentist – Dr. Lalita.

She was leaving the practice for her own clinic in KL so I was like one of her last patients there. That RM200 included filling (for a severely damaged teeth), cleaning tonnes of stoned cavity (I never realised they were cavity as they were as white as my teeth!) and medication. She even polished my teeth for free.

The 45 minute surgery was both painful and exciting. Painful being obviously having a drill moving around your bleeding mouth. Exciting, besides getting a minor oral makeover, was to get to know the person doing the drilling. With 30 years of experience, she could’ve done anything to my mouth and I wouldn’t worry a bit. Just as long as she doesn’t turn into ‘The Dentist’. Scary piece of crap that movie was.
