Tiring Weekend

Last Saturday, I went to attend the last day of KL Design Week. One of the venues was KL tower. So I walked all the way from Dang Wangi train station to there and end up having a 2 minute chat with the receptionist only to find out that the event had it's two day run there the weekend before. I was like WTF! It said 28th March - 4th April on the damn website.

So I decided to go to another venue (yes, the event has multiple venues) which was CapSquare KL. Also walked all the way from KL Tower to there. Got lost. Fortunately there were street maps around. I was sweating like hell when I arrived in CapSquare. The place is barely fully opened. Guess the event was to promote the venue as well.

Upon registering, the door gift looked very promising on the outside. A box that was quite...weighty. Of course, more to my disappointment, it was just a calendar and a stack of blank white cards. Yes, BLANK PAPERS! What am I going to do with those? If they gave me those papers in A4 sizes, I would use them to print my assignments but no, they handed those out in a format unknown to printers! At least if you want to miniaturize it do it in B5! My printer could still print on those.

What the hell! The whole place was covered with environment friendly posters but there they were giving visitors something that would end up going to the trash bin. Those blank cards don't even look like they were made from recycled materials. *sigh* Do they realize that they just went against their objective? Thank goodness my environmentally obsessed friend didn't come with me or she would've given them an earful.

But the rest of the event was fine, plenty of artworks to look at (and buy). Most of the designers there sell postcards of their work. Should've bought one from that Japanese hippie at the entrance. Her clothes remind me of Pheobe from the early episodes of Friends.

Didn't stay there long. Went to KLCC to grab something to eat. Ended up consuming Cold Storage cold pasta. Decided to head back home after a half an hour window shopping.

On the way back home, the bus passed Jalan Brickfields and there was a commotion going on. The traffic police were more aggressive than usual. There were government vehicles passing through and a few men that look like those Secret Service people on TV (only less fashionable) with swirly earphones came out from some of those cars. Suddenly, from the far end of the street drove a metallic gold Perdana. It parked on one side of the road and then came out the newly appointed Prime Minister - Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. People on his side of the street all rushed to greet him. In the bus however, people started talking about politics and current affairs! Most of the conversations lasted till the bus' last stop LOL.
*sigh* Some people just can't shut their crap, acting like they know everything about something when they don't even have the basic knowledge of it. Stupidity amazes us all doesn't it?

The interesting day wasn't over. On the second bus ride (I need to take two buses to get to darn KL), I witnessed a car accident. A truck ran over a white Waja and the person at the driver's seat was covered in what else, blood of course. His eyes were still blinking so unless blinking eyes is a post-dead reaction, I didn't think he was dead. People were all over the scene and I guess they were waiting for an ambulance to come and get the guy out. The truck driver on the other hand, didn't look panic and had that "it's not my fault, serve you right" look. In my opinion of course.

Arrived home, terribly exhausted, slept for 16 hours.

Next day, went to the new wing of IOI mall and visited Daiso, claimed the 'World's Largest RM5 Store'. Anyone who knows logic get that the advertisement only meant 'Malaysia's Largest RM5' store because only Malaysia uses the RM currency and using the word 'World's' is just a publicity stint to get people to go there.

Everything costs RM5 so don't bother looking for a price tag. What I can tell you is that there are things at Daiso that are of great value and there are things that aren't at all. Probably that's how they keep the product price balanced. So I aimed at stuffs that are more expensive everywhere else - even eBay. I was actually there to look for an atomizer (spray bottle) and found plenty of them but they look too unreasonable for RM5 so I bought a cleaning detergent in an atomizer instead for better value LOL. Bought another laptop sleeve too. Great build and doesn't look cheap. Daiso, btw, is a Japanese 100 Yen store chain. 100 Yen is like RM3.++ so those things are cheaper in Japan. My friend Elma whose been to Japan love that store while she was there. Bought make-up and everything hahaha. Don't know if she experienced side effects or anything.
