Holiday, Book Reviews & The Horror Awaiting Me!

Well, for starters, my holiday was average. CNY wasn't so merry this year and the red packets weren't that much either. At least better than nothing right? Well, as for the rest of the hollies, I stayed at my grandma's.

Amazingly, I finished reading 6 novels in two weeks! Really shows that I'm not that much of a TV fan. Four of them were children novels by Diana Wynne Jones (wonder why they didn't make a movie out of them. The stories much better than Harry Potter) and the other two were The Millionaires and The Codex.

The Millionaires got me hooked up till the end though there are some doubtful parts but it's a fiction novel, what do you expect. As for The Codex - an utter disappointment in contrast of it's positive review. I love archeological novels and The Codex tries so hard to be one that it fails in all major aspects of a good archeological reading - mystery, facts, thrill and excitement. It is somewhat suspenseful to say the least.

Read The Codex if you want, some people actually like it, I'm more of a analytical reader so details are very important (reason for my slow reading) and repetitions are not my thing unless there's a good point for them to be, well...repeated!!

Done with the book reviews.

I'm blogging this after hours waiting in line at school to register for the new semester which starts next week. It hurts to know I'll be repeating a few modules. Well, at least I still haven't gotten a warning letter from the scholarship committee. Damn! If this continues, I might actually get one. Come on, a little bit more for that new computer and I can actually do my work with speed and ease (though I'm not blaming my failing entirely on my slow PC).

While sitting in that huge, bad air circulation hall to pay my fees and all, a familiar face came out from backstage to one of the faculty tables on the other side of the hall from where I was sitting. It was my ex-high school Art teacher, Mr. Khairi! I stand up to greet him but we didn't have a long chat as he was just too busy. Probably he just started working there, never seen him here before. I guess he was very shocked to see one of his students who was very bad in art enrolled in an institution that is 'well-known' for it *cough* *cough*....

Mr. Khairi, welcome to my university. It sucks. You'll love it!

Honestly, I can't wait till the semester starts, seeing new faces in my new class and meeting very-very familiar lecturers that can't wait to yell at me. Hey, you people failed me, isn't that enough?

I don't know how explain to my cousins living around KL about this whole thing (failing and all) and telling one of them I can't come to her place as often as I did. Oh well, gotta do what I've gotta do.

There's also damage control to think about...awwwwwh!
