Cancellations on Hold
Things can get so f**ked up sometimes you wonder WHY? WHY!
A friend and I have been planning this trip to Singapore for a while now. No, not a while but months! Bought the ticket since January and paid for the backpackers lodge located right in the heart of the city! Considering it’s Singapore, it wasn’t easy to get the place especially at this time of the year - and at a price so cheap I thought they were kidding me.
So I planned: read reviews, getting maps, bus routes, getting my passport done a few days ago…and more planning for the exciting trip next week.
Even bought a pair of Timberlands and called them my ‘Singapore Shoes’ because I vowed not to touch them till then; By the way, it was the also most money I’ve ever spent on an apparel. I’m not into branded materials but it’s Singapore – let me be a freak! (or freakier)

Suddenly, fate smacks you in the ass! Just like that - It just so happened that I have two class presentations next week and those days fall on the same dates as my Singapore.
Why? Why! I swear I checked those damn course modules and there wasn’t anything significant happening next week besides those boring lectures which I’m more than happy to skip. They seem to change things as the semester goes on it’s frustrating.
Putting the whole thing on hold seemed like the only option right now. I can’t afford to fail this semester…again!
But that is not the hardest thing, though heartbreaking, not as painful as what I’m forced to do: telling my friend I won’t be able to make it. I’ve never cancelled on an important plan before. Especially one that filled both of us with such excitement, I was near psychotic.
For the past two hours and while writing this, I’ve been thinking the exact words to say so he doesn’t go ballistic. Why?
‘Non-transferable ticket’ that’s why.
